Hobie Porter is a contemporary landscape painter focused on place and environment. He lives & works in the Tweed Valley, North-Eastern NSW. His work has been selected for recent survey exhibitions, including Assemble | Disassemble (2015) Caboolture Regional Gallery and The New Arcadia (2011) Lismore Regional Gallery, among others. Hobie is a Henry Lawson Scholarship recipient, holding a Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts) with Honours (Contemporary Art) and a Graduate Diploma of Education. He is currently producing work about North Head’s significant natural history, to be exhibited at Manly Art Gallery & Museum in December 2017.
Hobie has been shortlisted for the 2014 John Leslie Landscape Art Prize. In 2013, he was a finalist in the Colville-LLoyd Rees Landscape prize (Colville Gallery, Hobart), the Mosman Art Prize (Mosman Art Gallery, Sydney) and the Paddington Art Prize (Mary Place Gallery, Sydney). In 2012, He was awarded Highly Commended in the Essential Energy Countryscapes Art Prize (Bathurst Regional Art Gallery).
